Founded in 2023, the Underdog Film Festival was created with a simple vision: to celebrate independent cinema in an environment that feels welcoming, inspiring and genuinely connected to its audience.
Rather than focusing on exclusivity, we believe that great films deserve to be experienced in a relaxed and creative atmosphere where filmmakers and audiences can meet as equals. Hosted at Culture Shocks in Wolfsburg, the festival combines international short films, workshops and networking opportunities with a venue unlike any other. It is a place where creativity extends beyond the screen, making every visit a unique cultural experience.

Looking Ahead to 2027
The 2027 festival marks an exciting new chapter.
We are proud to announce our collaboration with Filmclub Wolfsburg e.V., strengthening the connection between the festival and Wolfsburg's emerging film community. Our regular festival screenings and workshops will continue to take place at Culture Shocks, preserving the relaxed and personal atmosphere that has become the festival's trademark.
The official awards ceremony, however, will move to the Kino im Hallenbad, where the winning films will be presented on the big screen as part of the evening's celebrations. This partnership allows us to combine the festival's unique character with the cinematic experience of one of Wolfsburg's most established venues, giving our award winners the recognition they deserve.

The Underdog Film Festival is about more than watching films.
Our audiences play an active role through the Audience Award, filmmakers meet directly with visitors, and our workshops provide practical insights into filmmaking, acting, storytelling and production.
